We’re getting married in the middle of woods. There is no lodging within walking distance. No matter where you stay, you will need a car. Good news is, the drive will be pretty.

If you’re flying into Raleigh, RDU is the airport code. RDU is also an hour away from our wedding location. Yes, I know, this is sounding more and more fun.

There are some vacation rentals close by. Check AirBnB. Check VRBO. Use the ‘Show Listings by Map’ function, compare it to the map above.

Also search for bed and breakfasts. Lots of historic homes in this area offer that service.

If you’re the adventurous type, there are tons of campgrounds on the lake. Get a tent or get an RV. Have a fun story to tell folks when you get back home.

Before securing a place, do a quick check on drive time. Some places on the opposite shore of Kerr Lake might take as long to drive from as a hotel room in Raleigh. It’s a really large lake.

If you can’t grab a place on the lake, our personal advice is to stay in or near Warrenton, NC. It’s a cute, safe town with several options for food and drink. Oxford, NC is also nice, but a little further out. You will get shot if you stay within the city of Henderson, NC. Okay, maybe not that dramatic. But still, buyer beware if you decide to stay or visit there. Any lake house with a Henderson address is perfectly fine, though.
